Overview:
As soon as an MT receives a license number, they become a professional. For many, this can be an unfamiliar shift of responsibility within the workforce. Career as an LMT means that it is each licensee's responsibility to know and uphold the Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and Scope of Practice of the profession. LMTs can find themselves working in various establishments: spas, clinics, fitness facilities, chiropractic offices, medical buildings, cruise ships, and so much more. It makes sense that each of these business will have their own set of policies and procedures as to how their business will run. As an LMT, the practitioner not only represents the business that they work for, they also represent themselves. Each LMT should consider their own polies and procedures of how they will conduct themselves within any role of employments and also what they will do to manage different situations that can arise while in various states of employment. A professional LMT must represent themselves to protect their commitment to the Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and Scope of Practice. We come together in this course to build skills to do just that. As a group. we will discuss common issues that can arise in places of practice when working for someone who doesn't know or understand the laws and regulations associated with licensed massage therapy. Learners will leave with a confident sense of their own boundaries and how to uphold them with clients and employers.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review common policies and procedures surrounding the practice of massage therapy
  • Understand the benefits of policies and procedures
  • Become familiar with the process of developing and writing policies and procedures
